In this blog post, we invite you to get to know the incredible staff members who bring WOVOP's mission to life and make a lasting impact on the lives of young women and girls.


Marion Adhiambo – Teen Peace Ambassador

Marion Adhiambo, a passionate teen advocate, recently completed her secondary studies at Achego Girls High School and is eagerly awaiting her university journey. With a deep passion for mentorship, guidance, and counselling, Marion is determined to support at-risk girls who face the challenges of early and unplanned pregnancies, ensuring they have the necessary resources and encouragement to stay in school and pursue their dreams. Marion's dedication to empowering young girls reflects her commitment to creating a brighter future for all.


Marion also added that, ā€œMy hobbies are dancing, swimming and travelling. What makes me interested to work with WOVOP is that the fact that we embrace teamwork. I have learnt a lot of skills and this has rejuvenated my passion to want to be a peace practitioner.ā€


Jesca Awino - Program Coordinator

Jesca, the Programs Coordinator at WOVOP, plays a vital role in supporting program activities through comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation. With her strong data analysis and organizational skills, Jesca ensures the effectiveness and impact of all interventions. As a powerful team leader, she embodies the belief that empowering women is the key to achieving real development in the world. Jesca finds fulfilment in empowering young women and girls, actively participating in volunteer work, and building valuable networks.


Jesca adds, ā€œI do nature walk for recreation. My hobbies are baking and singing. It's the amazing work being done at WOVOP that attracted me. A place where young women are doing magic, turning just ideas into action and being impact felt, not just in the society we serve, but also internationally.ā€


David Kogolla - Outreach Coordinator

Kogolla David Odongo plays a crucial role in WOVOP's mission of creating a safe living environment for young girls and women. With a diploma in community health and community development, he focuses on improving outreach, reporting, and feedback mechanisms to enhance the organization's impact. In addition to his professional pursuits, Kogolla has a passion for football, farming, and working with women, further fuelling his dedication to empowering and supporting marginalized communities.


When he was asked about his hobbies and interest in WOVOP, he stated that ā€œHe enjoys reading, writing, photography, playing a musical instrument, cooking and eating, gardening, hiking or camping, traveling to new places, collecting items such as stamps, coins, or books, playing sports or exercising regularly, learning a new language or skill and volunteering or participating in community service programs. I enjoy working for WOVOP because I get to empower girls and make them realize their dream and also provide a safer space.ā€


Evitor Ooko – Project officer

Evitor Ooko is driven by a strong desire to leave a lasting impact on shaping peace at WOVOP. With a passion for philanthropy, her ultimate goal is to bring smiles to people's faces. Holding a degree in Peace and International Relations from Daystar University, she aims to educate and empower young individuals about the importance of sustainable peace through her work at WOVOP. In her free time, Evitor indulges in her love for travel, further expanding her horizons and enriching her understanding of different cultures and perspectives.


This is what she had to say when asked about her hobbies and WOVOP, ā€œMy hobbies are travelling, blogging, making new friends, photography and modelling. WOVOP has given me the platform to practice what I have learnt in school on a wider scale. They have coached me with the necessary skills. I have learnt a lot from WOVOP'S team through workshops and fieldwork and I am ready to take the mantle of being peace advocateā€


Grace Orao - Executive Director

Grace, an enthusiastic and driven individual, is deeply committed to advancing the agenda of youth, women, and peace and security. At just 23 years old, she founded WOVOP, an organization dedicated to achieving sustainable peace by empowering young people. As a practicing mediator, Grace actively works to transform conflicts in rural and peri-rural areas of Kisumu County, placing a strong focus on the role of girls and women in conflict prevention, mitigation, and resolution. Alongside her passion for her work, Grace also finds joy in savouring delicious food and embracing the beauty of nature.


Ā When asked about her hobbies and her interest for working in WOVOP, she said the following ā€œIf I were to pick one favourite hobby of mine out of the many I have, I will definitely pick dancing. I developed a taste for dancing when I was very young. The way my feet moved to the rhythm of the music convinced my parents that I was a born dancer. I dance to lift up my spirit and keep my self sane. What makes me interested in working for WOVOP is the people I work with. They are not only a dream team but also passionate, cultured, and committed to the vision.Ā  They simply make magic happen and so I love them so much.ā€


Evaline Achieng - Mental Health Support Staff

Evaline Achieng is a dedicated mental health practitioner who strives to bridge the connection between peace and mental well-being. With a firm belief in the power of positive thinking, she focuses on cultivating a healthy and supportive work environment. Evaline develops internal wellness campaigns to provide employers with effective techniques for promoting mental health among their employees. In her leisure time, she enjoys embarking on long road trips, finding solace and clarity in the open road.


Evaline had this to add, ā€œI love cooking and listening to music. I also enjoy long road trips. I love working at WOVOP because it's a great learning space for me. Also, I get to establish myself professionally. Aside from that I love that it's a safe space for it's staff and the working environment is also very healthy, no biases of any sort. Since I came to WOVOP, my confidence has really gone up and I have acquired a number of skills since I joined the organization.
