Sylvia Amwayi🙋🏽♀️
A passionate intern who dedicated two years of her life to the pursuit of peace and security at WOVOP as a finance assistant, ensuring timely and accurate preparation, presentation and distinction of financial and audit reports to the management, committe, funding partners and Authorities. She applied to join Women Volunteers for Peace with the hopes that she finds a place where she can pour her time and energy into to create a difference. Little did she know that her internship period would also be a crash course in human resource management and employee labour law at the workplace.
Now, let's talk about her highand low noments . We all have them, right? Well, Sylvia's low moments were those frustrating days when she couldn't quite crack a specific task. But oh, the fun moments! She found herself grinning from ear to ear when given opportunities to attend meetings that not only expanded her horizons but also helped her grow her career and network base.
Let's delve into one of the projects that stole Sylvia's heart: the 'Keeping a Girl Safe and in School Campaign.' She threw herself into it, passionately involved in every aspect. Her impact on the community was undeniable, as her ability and dynamism were always sought after for various community activities.
But Sylvia didn't just stop at being dedicated; she was a force to be reckoned with. She made invaluable recommendations within the finance department, aiming to bring in more professionals who could work hand in hand with the staff. Her vision was? To elevate WOVOP to greater heights through interactive and educational initiatives targeting young women and girls not only in Kisumu County but also beyond.
Sylvia Amwayi is a young woman on a mission, committed and relentless in her pursuit of making a difference. With her determination and forward-thinking mind set, she left an indelible mark on WOVOP, leaving us all inspired to follow in her footsteps.
When asked about her last thoughts she said " I would like to recommend students to apply for the exchange program because WOVOP will give them space to grow professionally and in many other areas."
